Letter to the Editor: Ringette girls very grateful for assistance

Description

Langley Advance newspaper clipping of a letter to the editor published February 14, 1974 entitled: "Ringette girls very grateful for assistance." The letter was submitted by Eileen Carpenter, Secretary of Langley Ringette.

The letter expresses gratitude on behalf of the 280 girls and coaches of Langley Ringette to the municipality who have offered much needed help during the first year of ringette. Eileen thanks the Langley newspapers who have helped to publicize the sport through articles and photographs, as well as the 14 sponsors who provided each player with a new sweater to wear during games. She went on to thank businesses who donated paint, plywood, doors and materials used to build a storage room and paint ringette sticks. She thanked Aldergrove ringette for the 13 hours of weekly ice time, as well as the referees, and time keepers.

The letter acknowledges a $2,000 grant received from the provincial government for ice time, the municipality for the $1,500 grant, and thanks the Langley Recreation commission for financial, moral and personnel assistance. Eileen states the budget for ringette was over $9,000.
