Title A name given to the resource Ringettes march in; B.C. titles decided Description An account of the resource Article published in the Langley Advance newspaper on March 17, 1982 entitled: "Ringettes march in; B.C. titles decided. The article includes a photograph with two players, one with the ring, and a goalie in the background. The photo caption reads: "Provincial ringette competition involving 9 BC ringette associations included a matchup between the top BC petites North Shore Winter Club team and an Aldergrove squad. The tourny was hosted for four days at Civic Centre." The article recaps the ringette provincials hosted at the Langley Civic Centre and the Aldergrove Arena. The opening ceremonies included presentations by Langley Aldermen Alfred Nundal and Muriel Arnason, BC Ringette Association president Gordon Scott, and Langley Ringette Association's Gail Chenier. The provincials had 52 games and teams included Langley, North Shore Winter Club, Aldergrove, Port Coquitlam, Prince George, North West Vancouver, Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, and Howe Sound. This was the first time that Prince George, Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Howe Sound participated in the provincial tournament. These teams participated at an exhibition level. In the belle division, Aldergrove defeated Langley 8-4 to take the championship. Poco beat North Shore Winter Club in the junior belle division. In tweens, North Shore Winter Club earned the gold over Aldergrove. In the petite division, North Shore Winter Club beat Langley to win first place. During the closing ceremonies on Sunday evening, trophies and banners were awarded to the winning teams. Sportsgalship recipients received recognition. Keith Sullivan began his involvement with ringette in Prince George in 1983 when his daughter began playing. Over the years, Keith has been an executive board member, a coach, a manager, an official, a fundraiser, and a driving force behind ringette in northern BC. In 1996, Keith was recognized with a City of Prince George Recreation Award of Merit and was inducted into the Ringette BC Hall of Fame. Over the years, he coached in many different events such as the Northern BC Winter Games, BC Winter Games and National Ringette Championships. In 2016, Keith even took a team from Prince George to play in Finland. In 2024, Keith received the Sport BC Presidents Award, honouring his outstanding volunteer contributions.
