The caption reads: "Winding her way out of trouble, Judy McLean of Aldergrove's Belle B team raced past an opponent during a ringette contest at the Civic Centre last weekend. Aldergrove upset their hosts, the Langley Powder Puffs, by a score of 5-0 Saturday." The article reports the results of a ringette tournament held at Fraser Lake. Langley's tween B and junior belle B teams swept all their games during tournament play. Gordy's Gals (the junior belle team) beat Prince George three times by scores of 6-2, 3-2 and 5-1. The Langley M&M's (tween b) beat Vanderhoof 5-1 and 12-0, and Fraser Lake 6-3. Tiffany Ortman was awarded the MVP trophy. Nadine Barr led the Langley tween team scoring with six goals in four games. Vicki Warren was the top scorer for the junior belles with five. The article goes on to report the game scores at the Langley Civic Centre between Gordy's Gals and Port Coquitlam Lepholtz where Langley won 4-3. Dawn Gravelle, Karen Duvuyst, Shannon Meek and Vicki Warren scored. Shannon Smith scored for Langley with two goals. In junior belle action, Langley's A team beat North Short Winter Club 8-4. Debbie Chenier scored six goals and Joanna Vinnette scored two. Aldergrove's belle B team lost to the Langley Powder Puffs 5-0. In petites, Hi-Lo and Riv-Tow played each other with Riv-Tow winning 5-4. Jennifer Harker earned a hat trick and Kim Keffer scored twice. Kelly McCallum scored three and Tara Sutherland scored one. Last weekend action kicked off "Ringette Week in BC" which runs until February 12th. The Langley Ringette Association will hold demonstrations at the Willowbrook Mall to mark the occasion. A group of Bunnies and Petites will play on an artificial ice surface in the mall during a three hour long demonstration on February 8th. The article is about a variety of special events that the Langley Ringette Association has scheduled, both hosting and competing in. On February 5th ringette will be demonstrated to the public in the Langley Eagles Junior A hockey team's pre-game show. In February, the Langley Junior Belle and Belle teams will play in the inter-provincial ringette championships in Winnipeg. In March, local teams will play in the PoCo house team tournament. In March, the Langley Ringette Association will host the provincial ringette championships at the Langley Civic Centre. Langley players will be trying out for the National Bells and Junior Belles division teams.
