Beverley (Bev) Felske was a founding Director on the inaugural board of directors for the British Columbia Ringette Association, which introduced ringette to the province. Bev was born in Mountain Park, Alberta, later residing in Murrayville (Langley), BC. She went on to become a longtime Port Coquitlam resident for 57 years. Bev had a career as an education assistant and science lab technician for the Richmond School Board. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Harold Felske (May 5, 1933 – Sept. 18, 2012), whom she was married to for 49 years. Melvin was involved in Port Coquitlam (Poco) minor sports as a hockey, ringette and softball coach. In addition to being involved with the BC Ringette Association, Bev served many roles, including President and co-founder with the Port Coquitlam Ringette Association, the BC Snowmobile Federation, and ATV BC, which she also co-founded. Bev's passions including ensure that girls had an ice sport to play; advocating for trails to ride; and passing legislation for licensing and registration of ATV’s in our province. Bev and Melvin spent many happy years traveling the province and beyond in their motorhome and snow birding in Palm Springs, CA. Bev Felkse was inducted into the Ringette Canada Hall of Fame on December 22, 2022 and the BC Sports Hall of Fame in November 2023 as a Builder-Coach. Bev is the first person from the sport of ringette inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. The article includes a photograph of Trudy Cuthbert. The article is reporting on the ringette coach and referee clinic held August 16 at the Aldergrove Arena. The clinic was sponsored by the newly formed B.C. Ringette Association, which has its headquarters in Langley. Representatives from several municipalities were at the clinic, including Kamloops, Richmond, Burnaby, Langley, Sherwood Park, Montrose and Victoria. Some of these representatives expressed a wish to set up a similar clinic in their own regions. The event organizers were Roy English, the head referee for Langley Ringette, and Dave Nault, head coach for Langley Ringette. Keith Sullivan began his involvement with ringette in Prince George in 1983 when his daughter began playing. Over the years, Keith has been an executive board member, a coach, a manager, an official, a fundraiser, and a driving force behind ringette in northern BC. In 1996, Keith was recognized with a City of Prince George Recreation Award of Merit and was inducted into the Ringette BC Hall of Fame. Over the years, he coached in many different events such as the Northern BC Winter Games, BC Winter Games and National Ringette Championships. In 2016, Keith even took a team from Prince George to play in Finland. In 2024, Keith received the Sport BC Presidents Award, honouring his outstanding volunteer contributions. Last year's fee, which was considerably more than the previous year, resulted in a big drop in registrations.
